What currently annoys me most about -hosted instances is the requirement to create separate accounts on each to participate. I see cross-instance as a must for the future.

Native integration of -bug into @gitea ( would be a great step towards that, together with cross-instance forking and PR creation.

@janek we’ve applied for an NLnet grant to implement federation (for issues, forking, PRs, etc..).

@gitea Right, but I was wondering whether basic collaboration could be implemented without a separate federation protocol - e.g. the ability to create pull requests from an external doman (which would then enable reviewing code from any non-federating platforms as well).

If issue tracking uses git-bug, one could conceive of interacting only through ssh authentication rather than a web account, pushing to discuss on bugs and more.
